Axial-flow type; circular-flow type; oppositelyrunnning rotor type; blades.-A turbine rotor is formed of an uninterrupted hollow annular drum R with blades 1 and openings in one of its side walls. Working fluid is supplied through nozzles N in a stator chamber S which has a small clearance at the nozzles but elsewhere has ample clearance to allow the working fluid to flow from the interior of the rotor into the stator chamber. The radial length of the blades and openings should be about twice the radial length of the nozzles. The rotor may be formed of two flanged discs d, in which the blades and openings have been stamped, separated by a hub h acting as a distance-piece. A number of rotors may be compounded on one shaft. Working-fluid from one rotor may pass to a second rotor running in the opposite direction.
