Abstract

1,080,819. Fuel injection pumps. SOCIETE INDUSTRIELLE GENERALE DE MECANIQUE APPLIQUEE. Dec.15, 1964 [Dec.19, 1963], No.51059/64. Heading F1A. The pump described in Application 49233/64 is modified in that no lubricant pump is provided, and a modified means is employed to rotate and axially displace the distributing valve 2, Fig. 1, with respect to the shaft 4. A sleeve 50 having a part-spherical end 50a is provided with two radially inwardly extending pins 52 which engage two helical grooves 53 provided in an end portion 2b of the valve. A spindle 51 extends through the end 50a of the sleeve 50 and carries two rollers 55, Fig. 4, slidable in axially extending slots 54 provided in a flange 4b of the shaft 4. Governor weights 28, pivoted about axes 29, are provided with arms 30, grooves 56 of which engage the outer ends of the rollers 55. A cylindrical member 57, retained within the end 50a of the sleeve 50 by the spindle 51, effects axial movement of the valve 2 when it abuts the valve end 2b. The distance a between the spindle 51 and the right hand face of the member 57 may be adjusted either by reversing the disposition of the member 57 within the sleeve 50, the spindle 51 not passing through the centre of this member, or by replacing the member 51 with one of different dimensions. Sleeve 50 is free to pivot about its spherical portion 50a to accommodate slight misalignment between the shaft 4 and valve 2. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 947, 158.
