962,911. Reciprocating pumps and motors. ZENTRALE ENTWICKLUNG UND KONSTRUKTION (ZEK) HYDRAULIK VEB. Oct. 19, 1960, No. 35790/60. Heading F1A. Hydraulic control means for the deflectable regulating member, e.g. a swash-plate or cam control slide, of an axial or radial cylinder pump or motor, comprises a piston 2, Fig. 1, subjected to the pump delivery or motor exhaust and acting on the regulating member through a roller 4 rotatably mounted either directly on the regulating member, Fig. 1, or on a pivoted lever 23, Fig. 3, in contact with said member, the arrangement being such that the line of movement of the piston intercepts the pivot axis of the regulating member or lever, respectively, approximately perpendicularly or passes the same at right angles at a predetermined perpendicular distance from the pivot axis not greater than the effective diameter of the piston. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, piston 2 acts to move swash-plate 8 to its no-stroke position against a spring. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, for a radial cylinder pump or motor, control piston 21 acts on a cam control slide 26 through a lever 23. In another embodiment, a stepped control piston serves to compensate the reactive thrusts of the working pistons against the regulating member, the delivery or exhaust pressure being applied to one of the stepped faces and a constant hydraulic or spring pressure applied to the other face. The control piston head may be flat, concave or convex.
