Abstract

The pump described in Application 49233/64 is modified in that no lubricant pump is provided, lubrication being ensured by the fuel, which fills the pump casing, and a modified means is employed to rotate and axially displace the distributing valve 2, Fig. 1, with respect to the shaft 4. An extension 2a, of the distributing valve 2 carries three sleeves 40, 42 and 41 retained by a nut 47, sleeve 41 being secured, as by welding, to the valve. The adjoining faces of sleeves 40 and 42 and sleeves 42 and 41 are respectively prevented from relative rotation by first and second sets of interlocking teeth, the sets having different numbers of teeth, which numbers may be 24 and 25 respectively, so that on loosening the nut 47, the angular position of sleeve 40 with respect to the distributing valve 2 may be finely adjusted. Sleeve 40 is formed with two lugs 40a, Fig. 3, which engage in two helical slots 45 formed on the inner surface of a hollow cylindrical member 26, the outer periphery of which has two longitudinal ribs 26a slidable in two grooves provided in the shaft 4 parallel to the shaft axis. Outward movement of the weights 28 of a governor results in a push piece 32 moving the member 26 to the right against a spring 27 and thus rotating the valve 2 relative to the shaft 4. As in Specification 49233/64, axial movement of the valve is opposed by resilient means arranged to yield after the spring 27. Reference has been directed by the Comptrollerto Specification 947, 158.
