Abstract

555,653. Hones. ALEXANDER MACHINERY, Ltd., G. H., and BALL, E. D. April 14, 1942, No. 4904. [Class 60] A hone for an internal bore comprises a cylindrical body through radial slots in which the hone members project adjustably, the hone members being arranged spirally or obliquely. The obliquely arranged slots b in each group are staggered in relation to the adjacent groups and their ends overlap. The hones d are carried by shoes c having inclined surfaces h engaged by conical surfaces on a central spindle f and the tool is provided with an expansible pilot ring j at each end. Endwise adjusting movement of the spindle is effected by the rotation of a threaded bush o produced by a stem q operated by a tubular member u within the hollow main spindle s. Relative rotary motion between the body a and spindle f is prevented by pins m engaging a groove n.
