Abstract

562,659. Honing tools. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and WERRETT, R. Jan. 6, 1943, No. 273. [Class 60] An expansible honing tool comprising a rotatable cylindrical body carrying longitudinally arranged and radially adjustable spaced shoes fitted with hones, is furnished with expansion means in the body to force the shoes radially outwards, and with adjustable abutments to limit such movement. The shoes 32 are arranged in cavities in the body 10 and are pressed outwards by radial springs 52, 54. They are fitted with inclined ends 36, 38 which bear against similarly inclined surfaces on a fixed end member 16 and an adjustable end member 20, both of which are mounted on a central shaft 14. The latter passes through the body 10 which has longitudinal play thereon under the control of springs 64, 66. The shoes are fitted with cross spindles 41, 43 carrying rollers 40, 42 which bear against radial faces. 44, 46 formed on the body, and with driving pins 94 engaging slots in the member. 16.
