Abstract

A space heater comprises a combustion chamber 36 communicating with a spaced air chamber 39 by way of duct 40, an air inlet box 44 above the chambers 36, 39 and communicating with the air chamber 39, the combustion chamber communicating with a vertical vent pipe 26 which is surrounded by an air inlet pipe 28 which communicates with the air inlet box 44. The top of the vent pipe is provided with a vent cap 65, plate member 70 below the vent cap, and a protective ring member 64. A further pipe 32 may be provided between the vent pipe and air inlet pipe 28 forming annular passages 30, 34. Cool air is drawn into the passages 30, 34 from below the plate member 70 passes through the air inlet box to the air chamber 39 and hence to the combustion chamber 36. The products of combustion are exhausted above the plate member 70 and below the vent cap 65. Air to be warmed is drawn through the bottom of a grille 90 at the front of the heater, passes around the combustion chamber and is discharged at the top of the grille 90.
