Class 126 A balanced flue heater comprising a boxlike body with a burner in the bottom thereof and two rising draught compartments flanking an interposed down draught compartment is characterized in that the compartments are separated from each other by vertical partition walls and from the burner space by a substantially horizontal plate said partition walls having openings near the top of the box and said plate forming at the base of each said rising draught compartments a baffle ridge surrounding an opening. In the heater shown a sheet metal body 1 is divided into four compartments, a horizontal compartment 6 containing a burner 3 two vertical rising draught compartments 7a, 7b and one down draught compartment 8 which is fitted with a baffle 13 at the top where openings 10 are provided for communication between the compartments. The upper wall of the burner compartment is formed by a plate 5 which is provided with openings 4a, 4b, leading to the compartments 7a, 7b, respectively. Combustion air is fed to the burner through a duct 14 whilst combustion products after passing up the compartments 7a, 7b are led to the atmosphere via compartment B and duct 12. The heater may be made in various lengths but every down draught compartment must be interposed between a pair of adjacent rising draught compartments.
