Abstract
978,382. Road heating machines. E. S. PARKIN. Oct. 14, 1963 [July 13, 1962], No. 26949/62. Heading E1G. In a road heating and planing machine a fan 23 draws the smoke from a firebox 8 through extractor tubes 11 to a chamber 20 and returns the smoke by a duct 30 to the flame zone 33. The firebox 8 is lined with refractory materials 9 and has a cowl 10 providing a suction area 15 surrounding the firebox. The extractor tubes 11 from the cowl 10 lead to a chamber 20 from which the smoke is drawn by a fan 23 and passed through a distributing baffle 26 to a second chamber 21 connected to return ducts 30 having swirl plates 34 and valves 36 to distribute the smoke to the combustion chambers 31. The heating unit is mounted on a wheeled frame A propelled by a motor C and having planing blades E, plough blades F and a discharge conveyer G.
