Abstract

1,078,331. Suspended ceilings. H. T. CEILINGS Ltd. April 20, 1964 [Jan. 18, 1963], No. 2218/63. Heading E1W. Square panels 1, having metal frames 6 clad with synthetic resinous material 7, and covered with stretched upper and lower sheets 8, 9 of translucent flexible polyvinyl chloride, are clipped on to a grid-like framework 2, 3 of U- or T-sectioned members. Various methods of clipping are described, e.g. in Fig. 2, two apertured plates 13 along one edge engage spring-loaded pegs 18 inside the framework member, and two L-sectioned plates 11 are employed along the other edge, engaging slots in the framework member. The plates 13, may be replaced by spring clips 21 (Fig. 3, not shown), passing through slots in the framework member, and in this embodiment the layer 7 has an upper vertical lip 35, and a sealing strip 34 is used between said lip and the framework member. Top-hat shaped spring clips 24 fixed under the members (Fig. 5, not shown) may 'be used for the facing edges of two adjacent panels, and may also have longer legs to clip under the panels (Fig. 4, not shown). Similarly shaped clips may have an upper loop 27 (Fig. 6, not shown) to clip into the framework member, and may have their ends 28 engaging in holes in the panels. A similar, but one-side-only clip is also described. A fire sprinkler 36 (Fig. 1, not shown) may be arranged to project through an auxiliary frame 35 set into the middle of a panel 1.
