Abstract

1,077,940. Oil burners. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. July 30, 1965 [July 31, 1964], No. 32747/65. Heading F4T. A swirler for use with an oil burner comprises a plurality of segmental symmetrically arranged fan-like vanes each having an outer portion 54 of large pitch and an inner smaller portion 56 of lesser pitch which direct combustion air to the extremities of the flame and to the oil discharge passage 26 respectively. The vanes are mounted on a truncated coneshaped part 48 through which the burner discharge passage protrudes and are secured at their outer extremities to an annular band 58 having an outer diameter corresponding to the inner diameter of a burner tube 11, Fig. 1 (not shown), in which the burner is situated. The burner nozzle is supplied with oil through a sintered filter element 35 and passes through radial passages 32 in an inner core member 27 held within a hollow body member 21 by a screw 28. Oil then flows to the discharge passage 26 by way of slots 36 formed in the spherical end face 34 of the core. The vanes and part 48 may be made integrally from sheet metal by cutting and stamping.
