Abstract

1334832 Burner G KROMSCHRODER AG 5 May 1972 [7 May 1971] 21020/72 Heading F4T A gas or vapour burner comprises a burner tube 4 inside which a central electrode 5 is supported by and extends through a baffle 7 which has a tubular member 10 surrounding the electrode 5 and provided with apertures 11 in the form of slots extending parallel to the axis of the electrode and into a flange 9 engaging the inner surface of the tube 4, said slots directing the fuel supplied upstream of the baffle 7 to and around the exposed electrode 5 on the downstream side of the baffle 7. The baffle 7 has an insulating sleeve 8 which fits over an insulating bushing 6 on the electrode 5. The slots 11 lie in planes parallel to the axis of the electrode 5 and extend substantially tangentially with respect to the inner surface of the member 10 and are arranged so that they induce a vortex in the air passing through them, The tubular member 10 has outer and inner diameters having dimensions such that it defines Annular spaces 12 and 13 so that air flows through the space 12, the slots 11 and the space 13 and swirls about the electrode 5. The baffle 7 and the tube 4 are made of conducting material to form a circuit with ionized gas around the electrode 5 for monitoring the flame.
