Abstract
107,740. Lea & Francis, and Ingall, C. H. March 16, 1917. Change-speed and reversing gearing.-In friction gearing in which a cone drives a frictionwheel mounted on a shaft driving the road wheels and can be moved axially to disconnect the engine, the wheel 8 is splined to a shaft 8 parallel with the side of the cone 3. The cone is provided with an extension 13 which may be driven through gearing in the reverse direction, or at a lower speed. The wheel 8 is fitted with a pneumatic tyre. In a modification, two friction-wheels and shafts are provided for driving the rear wheels separately.
