Abstract
1,075,396. Sliding windows. R. DALLAIRE. Nov. 2, 1964, No.44584/64. Headings E1J and E2A. A double sliding sashless window has fixed panes 16 and 17, and moving panes 23 and 24 running in tracks provided in an extruded plastics sill 38. Each track has both a side and a bottom T-sectioned groove formed therealong, either of which will receive the T-sectioned flange of plastics strips 26 and 27 which are used both on stops to locate the fixed panes 16 and 23, when they are fixed in grooves 27 and 28 (as shown), and also as supports for the fixed panes, when they are fixed in the bottom groove (Fig. 4, not shown). The extruded sill 38 also has a downstanding fir tree sectioned flange, adjacent flange 37, for fixing it into an undersize slot cut out of the lower window frame member 14. Lower window catches 19 and 21, and corresponding upper window catches 20 and 22 (Fig. 4, not shown), are also employed, the catch 19 at least, being movable between H-shaped end stops 51 and 52 (Fig. 3, not shown). The catches each have a hollow spring-loaded barrel 46 (Fig. 4) with an end projection 50 which projects into the plane of the window pane. Catch 19 has an L-sectioned flange 32 on its base, which is slidable in an L-sectioned groove 31a in the extruded sill 38.
