Abstract

1,075,384. Flare stacks. JOHN ZINK CO. June 3, 1965 [Dec. 8, 1964], No. 23764/65. Heading F4T. A flare stack includes a trap 24 comprising coaxial spaced walls 21, 25, 31 forming an inner annular passage 27 down which the waste gas passes and an outer annular passage 32 up which the waste gas passes to the flare outlet, and a plurality of flaps 46 are pivoted to the wall 25 and are adapted to obstruct partially the outer annular passage 32. The flow of the waste gas moves the flaps to positions in which they do not obstruct the annular passage but when the flow of waste gas is replaced by a slower flow of a purge gas the flaps move by gravity into the partially obstructing position. The flaps are spaced from each other.
