Abstract

107,515. Hosking, C. Nov. 4, 1916. Convertible into stands or supports.-A stand, such as a music stand, easel, or camera stand, convertible into a walking-stick comprises a casing, to the lower end of which are pivoted legs, which, when collapsed, form an extension of the casing and are held together by a ferrule, and at the upper end of which casing is provided a collapsible head for supporting music &c. mounted on a piston that can slide into the casing. The legs 2, pivoted to the casing 1, are connected bv pivoted stays 5 to a sleeve 6 sliding on a central rod 7 which carries the ferrule 8 for holding the legs together when collapsed. A spring 31 acts on the head 29 of the rod 7 to hold the ferrule in engagement with the legs. The handle 15 may be constructed to open out as shown. When the parts are collapsed the piston 13 is secured to the central rod 7 by spring-pressed arms 30 engaging a groove in the head 29, the parts being automatically disconnected when the arms 30 come in contact with a cam-surface on a ring screwed into the casing extension 10.
