Abstract

330,773. Melville, A. A. June 17, 1929. Tripod stands. - Relates to tripod stands of the kind in which the legs are pivoted to a holder carried by the lower end of a hollow standard so that the legs, when not required, can be collapsed and inserted within the lower end of the standard. According to the present invention the legs 3 are notched at 7 the lower end of the standard 1 or a member carried thereby engaging the notches to prevent the legs collapsing when in use.. The legs are pivoted at 5 in inclined slots 6 in a holder or plug 2 which screws or slides into the lower end of the stand or into a sliding or screwed collar thereon. In the latter construction the lower end of the collar engages the notches 7 in the legs.
