Abstract
494,474. Rod couplings. MATTHIES, A. Jan. 27, 1938, No. 2604. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Groups XIV and XI] In a workshop lamp-stand, the lamp f is pivoted at one end of a flexible tube h provided at its other end with a resilient plug g engaging the socket m. The plug may also take in the upper end of the tube k and in inclined sockets provided at the foot of the stand. The resilient plug g comprises a sleeve 18 split at 21 and having slidable in it a pin 19 forced inwards to expand the plug by a collar 24 on the flexible tube h when a fluted socket 22 is screwed into the sleeve 18. In a modified form of plug, the socket screws on the outside of the sleeve and has a transverse partition engaging the pin.
