1,075,116. Finishing fabrics; decatizing-machines. G. SPEROTTO. Dec. 20, 1963 [Dec. 31, 1962 (2)], No. 50541/63. Headings D1L and D1S. A knitted or woven fabric 17 is decatized by first heating the fabric, and then cooling the fabric by refrigerating apparatus comprising an assembly of tubes 104 around which a current of air passes, the air being colled to slightly above 0‹C and then drawn by exhaust means through the fabric 17. The fabric 17 is conveyed through the apparatus by a conveyor belt 16 and passes around conventional decatizing cylinders 2, 2', 2" in a chamber 3, driving rollers 11, 11', 12, 12', 13, 13' being provided. The fabric 17 and the conveyor 16 then pass between hollow plates 118, 118' heated interiorly by steam or electrically to vapourise the treatment liquid on the fabric 17 and conveyor 16. The fabric 17 is then conveyed into a chamber 101 enclosing the refrigerating apparatus comprising tubes 104 through which a fluid flows at a temperature a few degrees above 0‹C. and deflectors 103 to uniformly distribute air introduced through an opening 102. The air is sucked through perforations in a cylinder 105, around which the fabric 17 and the conveyor 16 pass by a pump 108. The fabric 17 then passes around a cylinder 5 to complete the decatizing thereof. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 2, the fabric is wound around a hollow cylinder 56 having tubular elements 206, 206' coaxial therewith. The element 206 is connected to a pressurised vapour source and treats the fabric along paths I, III, V, VII, IX. Air passes through an intake 202, past baffles 203, past the cooling tubes 204, between vanes 205 of a control valve and is sucked through the fabric along paths II, IV, VI, VIII, X into the element 206' by a suction pump 208. The cooling takes place immediately after the heat treatment.
