The accumulation of strained liquid at the top of a conical centrifuge is prevented by increasing the angle of inclination of the conical drum 6 near the top to form with cover ring 11 a chamber 1 into which passes strained liquid after the liquid has passed through separating screen 4, fine mesh screen 5, wide mesh supporting screen 2 and up drum 6. The increased centrifugal force in chamber 1, due to increase in radius of rotation, prevent the accumulation of liquid.
