Abstract

1,067,941. Centrifugal strainer separators. K. PAUSE. Jan. 22, 1965 [Jan. 22, 1964], No. 3036/65. Heading B1D. [Also in Division F4] Material to be treated, e.g. wetted baggasse (produced from crushed sugar cane) is introduced into a fixed orifice 21, fed outwards by the cover 6 of a hydraulic cylinder 3, rotating with a shaft 1, and periodically urged down the inside of a centrifugal strainer drum 15 by reciprocation of the cylinder 3 and by press members 9 hinged thereto at 8. In operation the press members 9 tend to move pivotally outwards, by centrifugal force, against the internal surface of drum 15. Upward movement of solids is prevented by shoulders 14a. In the region of the press members 9 the centrifugal drum 15 is formed of axially-disposed channels, between which slots are left, the press members 9 being opposite the slots. Water rises up inside an outer solid drum 12 and is discharged at 22.
