Abstract
1,072,959. Aerials. CSF-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. June 12, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 24538/64. Heading H4A. An aerial system comprises a main paraboloidal reflector P, Fig. 6, and an off-set hornreflector combination CR, H, the reflector of which is hyperboloidal with one focus coincident with that of the paraboloidal reflector, but with its axis at an angle to the axis thereof. Preferably, the angle between the axes of the two reflectors is 90 degrees (Fig. 7, not shown). In an embodiment, Fig. 9 (not shown), a horn (3) is cranked at (50), the two parts being at 90 degrees, and an hyperboloidal reflector (4) co-operates with a main paraboloidal reflector (2) through an aperture (6). The aerial components are carried on a frame which is rotatable about a horizontal axis (5) coinciding with a rotating joint through which the vertex of the horn is fed. The axis (5) is supported by a lattice structure (1) which can be rotated about a vertical axis by means of rollers (9) running in a circular track (8). The whole is contained within a radome (7). Dimensions for an aerial suitable for a frequency range of 4000-6000 Mc/s. are given as, main reflector diameter 20 metres, horn maximum transverse dimension 1À25 metres, hyperboloidal reflector aperture 3À25 metres.
