Abstract

A process for the manufacture of detergent compositions containing sodium tripolyphosphate by spray drying a slurry including the detergent components, comprises using the sodium tripolyphosphate at least partially in the form of its hexahydrate for preparing the detergent slurry. The detergent slurry may contain other phosphates such as sodium pyrophosphate and sodium metaphosphate and the slurry is prepared at a temperature between 20-90 DEG C. Detergents mentioned are tetrapropylene benzene sulphonate and sodium and magnesium silicate and sodium sulphate and carboxymethyl cellulose may be included.
