Abstract

1,071,665. Hydraulic presses. STAFFORD TOOL & DIE CO. Ltd. Sept. 17, 1964 [Sept. 20, 1963], No. 37113/63. Heading B5F. Two rams 1 (only one of which is seen in Fig. 1) of an hydraulic press are interconnected by a torsion bar 5 so that if the rams are unequally loaded a part of the force applied by the more lightly loaded ram is transferred to the more heavily loaded ram through the torsion bar. The torsion bar 5 is connected to each ram 1 through cranks 7 rigid with the torsion bar 5, pivoted links 6 and crossheads 3. The torsion bar 5 is mounted for rotation on spigots 9. The crossheads 3 are connected to the upper platen of the press (not shown) by columns 4 slidable in bearings 10, 11.
