A device for thinning-out rows of plants comprises two wheels 7 provided with knives 8 and arranged at 45 degrees to the direction of travel the movement of one wheel being sychronized with the movement of the other. The two wheels are driven by flexible shafts 4 from a gear 2 on a shaft 1 carrying spiked landwheels 5. each wheel 7 is carried by a frame 15 provided with an adjustable landwheel 17 and pivotally mounted on a centre frame 11 which carries the landwheels 5.
