Abstract

In a crimping machine in which, at each station, two false-twisting devices are juxtaposed so as to twist, in similar or opposite sense, a pair of yarns passing through the same heating device, the latter comprises an electrically heated, convexly curved heating plate having three or four laterally spaced yarn channels. The yarns are guided over the plates so that each yarn makes two consecutive passes (optionally, with an intermediate pass through a cooling zone) in only one (the first or second) of which is the yarn twisted by the false-twisting device. During the twisting passes, the yarns run in separate channels, and, during the untwisted passes, they run (side by side or separated) in the other channel or channels. Twist stops are provided at the end of the plate remote from the false-twisting device. Movable guides, acting on both yarns together, enable the length of the yarn path(s) over the plate to be adjusted.
