Abstract

1,090,990. False-twist crimping. KLINGER MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. May 6, 1964 [May 10, 1963], No. 18712/63. Heading D1F. A method of producing crimped yarn comprises subjecting the yarn on the run to two successive false twisting operations in opposite directions, the degree of twist imparted by the second false twisting operation being not less than that imparted by the first false twisting operation, and at any one moment a longer length of yarn being subjected to the heating prior to the first false twisting operation than subjected to the further heating. In the embodiment illustrated a polyamide or polyester yarn passes around a driven roller or a magnetically restrained pulley 12, along a groove in heater plate 14, the temperature of which increases along the length thereof, to false-twister head 16 which comprises either a false-twist spindle or a group of rotatable wheels, and then via feed rolls 18, 19, along a second groove in plate 14 to an adjustable guide 24, second falsetwister head 26, feed rolls 19, 28, and package 30. In modifications plate 14 need not be grooved or it may be replaced by two separate heaters.
