Abstract
883,613. Crimping yarns. HEBERLEIN & CO. A. G. June 23, 1960 [July 9, 1959], No. 22006/60. Class 120(3) Yarn of polyamide or polyester continuous filaments is crimped by causing it to move through a path on which it encounters, successively, a twist-stop, a heated surface to effect heat-setting of the twist in the yarn by contact, a twister of a false-twisting device, a second twist-stop, then in the reverse direction the same heated surface to effect a reduction in the extensibility of the yarn, and a third twist-stop. In the apparatus shown, yarn G passes around a roller W1 of a double roller, across the curved surface H1 of an electrically heated metal plate H, through an air zone and a false-twister M, around a roller D2, then returns across the surface H1 over a length X determined by an adjustable yarn guide F which may be disposed between roller D2 and surface H1 or on the latter, and around a roller W2. The dimensions of roller W1, exchangeable roller W2 and roller D2 may be predetermined and their relative peripheral speeds adjusted to produce tensions of 0À005- 0À5 grms./denier in the yarn between roller D2 and roller W2.
