Abstract

787,619. Crimping yarns. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVANOZ. March 27, 1956 [March 31, 1955], No. 9585/56. Addition to 733,707. Class 120(3) In a moditication of the process for "crinkling" yarns of the parent Specification the yarn is fed from the twisting zone on to a rotary feed device which maintains the yarn at a tension suitable for the application of the false twist and from which the parn is passed to a rotary windup member at a linear speed less than that at which it passes between the twisting zone and the device. As shown, yarn 1 of thermoplastic filaments, e.g. nylon, to which false twist has been applied by. a rotating member 2 is passed to a feed device 3 comprising a pair of driven multi-grooved rollers 4, 5, having converging axes and around which the yarn travels in parallel turns, and is wound on a spool 7: the device 3 and the spool 7 are driven with the appropriate speed differential therebetween, and the yarn may be heated at 8 as by means of an electric resistance or a heated plate, the temperature of which may be varied, in order to relax the yarn and intensify the " crinkle " so that a loose package is wound on the spool 7.
