Abstract

1,067,012. Valves. HATTERSLEY (ORMSKIRK) Ltd. March 12, 1965 [Sept. 25, 1964], No. 39151/64. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a conical seat member 11 and a co-operating closure member 12 including a disc 14 mounted on a spindle 13 and having an extension 15 on which is mounted a rigid frustoconical disc 17 and a resilient washer 16, a circlip 18 serving to retain the latter members in position. In operation, when the valve is closed the disc 17 engages the seat and the disc 14 then moves relatively thereto to compress the washer 16 into contact with the seat to complete the closure. When the washer 16 'loses its resilience the disc 14 may also engage the seat. Suitable materials for the washer are P.T.F.E., polyamides, or nitrile rubber. In a modification, the disc 17 carries a pin which passes through the washer and enters a bore in disc 14, thereby replacing extension 15. The circlip may be replaced by a spring washer held in place by a nut screwed on to the end of extension 15, alternatively, the end of the extension could be peened over.
