Abstract
1,064,971. Incinerators. VAUXHALL BOILER CO. Ltd. Dec. 31, 1964 [Feb. 3, 1964], No. 4500/64. Heading F4B. An incinerator comprises a primary combustion chamber 1 and three secondary combustion chambers 2, 5, 6, Fig. 3, arranged so that each chamber has a common wall with at least two other chambers, and so that the gases followed the outer wall of the incinerator to trace an almost closed figure, and then flow inwardly to a central flue outlet 17. The gases pass from the primary chamber 1 through holes 21 in a double wall formed of co-operating back-to-back refractory members 22, 23 formed with bosses 25 around each hole 21 so that air from the interior of the wall can pass to the holes 21 through the spaces between the bosses 25. Between the second and third chambers 2, 5 the gases pass through a second perforated wall 29, and the wall 7 between the third and fourth chambers 5, 6 is short to allow the gases to flow round its end. An auxiliary burner 19 may be arranged to deliver into the chamber 5.
