Abstract
1,064,790. Photographic flash lamps. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Dec.13, 1963 [Dec.18, 1962], No.49447/63. Heading G2L. A photographic flash lamp has a sealed envelope containing a combustion supporting gas, e.g., oxygen and a quantity of filamentary zirconium having an oxide coating. The oxide coating controls the combustion time to peak intensity. The zirconium may be annealed or unannealed. The oxide coating may be formed by anodizing sheets of zirconium foil in nitric acid to produce a coating of about 900 Angstroms. The lamp has a base 6, a filament 8 attached to lead-in wires 10 and 12 provided with ignition paste 14.
