993, 085. Moisture indicator for flashbulbs. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. July 10, 1963 [July 10,1962], No. 27345/63. Heading G1S. [Also in Division G2] A moisture indicator for use in photoflash lamps consists essentially of cobaltous cobaltic cyanide and a complex silicate compound. The lamp comprises a hermetically sealed envelope with a filling of a combustion supporting gas and combustible filamentary zirconium along with ignition electrodes, and a spot of the moisture indicator, prepared by mixing about 60% colloidal magnesium silicate with 40% cobaltous cobaltic cyanide by weight, is placed in the envelope before insertion of the zirconium. The envelope is dried and sealed. If the sealing is ineffective moisture will be admitted to the envelope turning the indicator spot pink from its original blue colour. Colloidal lithium and aluminium magnesium silicates may also be employed satisfactorily in preparation of the indicator.
