Abstract

1,124,845. Dimming apparatus for incandescent lamps. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. 29 June, 1966 [13 July, 1965], No. 29247/66. Heading H2H. [Also in Division F4] Apparatus for reducing the intensity of the light output of a high light intensity lamp 10 is built into a holder for the lamp and comprises a symmetrical semi-conductor device 42 which is triggered by pulses from a transformer 44, the trigger timing being controlled by a network which includes a variable potentiometer 48, resistors 52, 53 and a capacitor 50 together with a second symmetrical semi-conductor device 46. Firing of the device 46 causes capacitor 51 to discharge through the primary winding of transformer 44 thus to fire device 42 the mark-space ratio of the current pulses flowing through the lamp 10 being set by the potentiometer 48.
