Abstract
1,061,606. Stabilizing developed photographic silver halide materials. FUJI SHASHIN FILM KUBUSHIKI KAISHA. June 25, 1965 [June 25, 1964], No. 27160/65. Heading G2C. An exposed and developed photographic silver halide material is stabilized by treatment with a stabilizing bath containing ammonium thiocyanate and/or an alkali metal thiocyanate and is then immersed in an aqueous solution containing 1 to 15 weight per cent of ammonium thiocyanate and/or an alkali metal thiocyanate, the concentration of the thiocyanate in the aqueous solution being lower than that in the stabilizing bath, and then drying the material. The treatment with the aqueous solution lowers the concentration of salts left in the photographic material, the tackiness and tendency of the image to fade being reduced. The material may then be glazed with a hot metal plate. The aqueous solution may also contain a fluorescent whitening agent, a noble metal salt, an organo-mercapto compound, a thiosulphate or potassium metabisulphite.
