S t o c k s ; sighting- accessories; firing - appliances. - Consists of the combination of a special hyposcope and a special auxiliary stock for use in firing from cover. the hyposcope comprises two mirrors, close together, carried by hinged frames 7, 7<a>, Fig. 2, on a base-plate 1. Each frame is attached to a socket 6 adapted to turn on a hinge pin 4 or 5 which is carried radially by a disk 2 or 3 adapted to turn on a transverse pivot at the end of the base-piece. Springs hold the mirrors in their adjusted positions. The auxiliary stock comprises a telescopic rod or tube 14, 15, 16, Fig. 1, secured to the rifle behind the trigger-guard and provided with a hinged shoulder piece. A spring within the tube 15 absorbs recoil. The auxiliary stock is supported by the ordinary sling 21 which is passed over the shoulder piece and held taut by a spring band 13. The trigger is operated by a lever 18 pivoted to the auxiliary stock.
