In a combined water-closet basin-andcistern unit, the cistern 1 of which is directly attached to, or mounted upon, the basin 2 which has a siphonic discharge passage 8 with two traps 9, 10, a siphon 15 within the cistern has a downcomer leg 16 to convey liquid to the basin 2 and aspirator means including a transverse tube 33 therein with an opening 40 in its underside and communicating with a space 14 between the traps 9, 10 by means of a chamber 35 formed integrally with the leg 16, so that, during a flush air can be extracted through the tube 33 and the chamber 35 from the space 14. The tube 33 is integral with the chamber 35 and a bulbous part 31 of the leg 16 which has an integral extension 17 through the cistern bottom 18 into a passage 5 in the basin 2 for conveying flushing liquid thereto. The chamber 35 merges into the hollow section 53 of a flange 19 integral with the leg 16 and within the cistern 1, engaged by bolts to support the siphon 15. From the section 53 a tube 38 extends through a hole in the bottom 18 to communicate with the space 14, engaging in a column 13 in the basin 2 extending through the passage 5 therein. The tube 33 protrudes at one end from the leg 16, at which side thereof the chamber 35 extends across the cistern 1. The leg 16 may be of vitreous china or ceramic material, sealing gaskets 28, 29 of rubber or like resilient material being placed between the flange 19 and cistern 1 and cistern I and basin 2. In a modification the tube 33 and chamber 35 are arranged differently.
