Abstract
1,049,765. Contact-members for switches. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGSG.m.b.H. Sept. 5, 1963 [Sept. 6. 1962], No. 35131/63. Heading H2B. The fixed contacts of an on-load switch for tapped transformers comprise elongated bars 1 resiliently and adjustably mounted between hollow-section transverse bars 5 inserted in recesses in insulating plates such as 6, each contact bar 1 having a pressure plate 3 and springs 4 (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) providing the resilient mounting. Screws 11 provide for adjustment of the play enjoyed by the contact bars 1, which have grooves engaged by arms 7 of the U-section bars 5. Bars 1 are secured against transverse displacement by webs 12, which ensure a space between bars 1 so that an adequate flow of oil and hence also cooling of the contacts occurs during switching movement. Current supply to contacts 1 is by wires 13 secured to connecting lugs 15 by cable clips 14. Bars 1 have arc-resistant material 2 on their contact surfaces. A three-phase switch (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) has a row of resistance contacts 27, a row of main contacts 28 and spring-urged pivoted relief contacts 30 therefor. Insulating plates 36-39 separate and protect the rows of contacts.
