Abstract

1,049,469. Linkwork; connecting-rods. IRVIN HUDSON Ltd. July 27, 1965 [Sept. 24, 1964], No. 38977/64. Headings F2K and F2T. A drive rod, such as a connecting rod, comprises a tubular part 10 in which a stem portion 12 is frictionally engaged by segments of friction material 18 fitted over a split sleeve 17 of elastomeric material and located between spaced flanges 13, 14 on the stem 12. A coaxial bore 19 in the stem 12 receives a stem 25 which is clamped therein and carries an attached eye 26 at its outer end. A similar eye 26 is secured to the other end of tubular part 10. When a force in excess of a predetermined value is encountered, the segments 18 slide within the tubular part 10. In a modification, axial compression of a resilient bush 33, Fig. 5 (not shown) produces radial expansion of an elastomeric sleeve 17 and friction material 18.
