A plastics container 1 comprises a rectangular base 2 and two opposite pairs of side walls, the side walls 3, 4 of one pair each having an external bearing surface 6, 7, an internal upper support surface 8, 9 and a lower support surface 14, 15 so that the container may be stacked with its bearing surfaces 6, 7 resting on the surfaces 8, 9 of a lower container and may be nested within a lower container by tilting the upper container about an axis parallel to the walls 3, 4 thereby allowing its bearing surfaces 6, 7 to move into the lower container and rest on its surfaces 14, 15. Hand holes 17 are formed in outwardly bulging wall portions 12, 13.
