Abstract

1,049,137. Air intake silencers for compressors. ATLAS COPCO A.B. April 30, 1965 [June 5, 1964], No. 18230/65. Headings F1B and FIN. An air inlet silencer for a V-type compressor comprises an air box 4 situated between the cylinder banks and provided with an inlet conduit 19 having an air filter 15, the outlets 18 to the cylinders being formed in the lower, V-shaped part of the box. A Venturi tube 17 may be provided in the inlet pipe 19. The compressor is a two-stage compressor, the two banks forming low and high pressure stages interconnected through an intercooler 7. Cooling air drawn over the intercooler 7 by a cooling fan 9 may be drawn through tubes 13 passing through the silencing chamber 4.
