Abstract

An alloy containing in percentage by weight <TABS:1048451/C6-C7/1> is solution treated, quenched to a temperature in the range 300 DEG -500 DEG C and then aged. Solution treatment may be carried out at 900 DEG -1200 DEG C for 0.5-8 hours, and ageing in the range 600 DEG -850 DEG C, a two stage ageing being preferred. For comparative purposes examples are given where the alloy is air cooled from the solution treatment temperature, and where it is quenched to 100 DEG C.
