Abstract

An alloy having fine as-cast grain size contains in percentage by weight .Al.4-8 .V.3-5 .Be.0.05-0.15 .S.0.02-0.07 .Ti.balance An exemplified alloy was forged at 1850 DEG F., and then rolled at 1750 DEG F., followed by annealing for two hours at 1300 DEG F. and air cooling. Subsequent heat treatment consisted of heating for one hour at 1550 DEG F., quenching into water, and then ageing at 900 DEG F. for eight hours and air cooling. Use of the alloy for aircraft components is referred to.
