Abstract

1,048,025. Protective arrangements. BRUSH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. March 18, 1964 [May 3, 1963], No. 17463/63. Heading H2K. [Also in Division G4] The temperature of a dry-type transformer is measured by means of a thermal image device which consists of an inner metal tube 1 (Figure not shown) carrying a thermometer and an outer metal tube 2 carrying a heating winding supplied from the secondary winding of a current transformer the primary of which is connected in one phase or line of the said dry-type transformer. The assembly is attached to the transformer casing by means of a flange 6, and the thermometer is maintained in good thermal contact with the inner tube 1 by a spring 5. The temperature indicator may be arranged to operate an alarm or to disconnect the transformer from the supply when a certain temperature is exceeded.
