Abstract

561,918. Thermometers. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A., RIPPON, E. C., and HARLE, L. Dec. 5, 1942, No. 17328. [Class 97 (iii)] In temperature indicators, particularly for oil-immersed transformer windings, of the kind in which the temperature-sensitive bulb, immersed in the oil, is also provided with a heater coil supplied from a current transformer connected to one of the phase leads of the transformer, the heater coil is housed in a space provided in the temperature-sensitive bulb. Fig. 2 shows such a bulb 1 immersed in oil in the., transformer casing 11, the steel bulb 1 having double walls provided with an annulus containing mercury or the like connected to a Bourdon indicator 4 by piping 3. In addition, the bulb 1 is provided with an internal space within which is housed a heater coil 5 wound on a former 6 and connected'by leads 7 to a current transformer 9 encircling a phase lead 10. When the oil is under pressure, the temperature-sensitive bulb is positioned in a pocket mounted on the cover of the casing 11 and immersed in the oil.
