Abstract

1,023,452. Transformers. B. PEEBLES & CO. Ltd. June 20, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 23262/61. Heading H1T. An oil conservator mounted above a transformer tank or a separate oil cooler comprises a sealed expansible metal chamber in the form of a bellows having inner and outer stainless steel convoluted walls 14, 15, sealed respectively by discs 18, 19 and sealed together by ring 16, and defining therebetween an oil-filled volume 23 which is in communication through apertures 17 with the oil in the transformer tank or cooler. In the minimum volume position, cylinder 22 provides a seating for disc 19 which itself provides a stop for disc 18. Expansion of the oil causes discs 18 and 19 to separate, the degree of expansion being indicated by the amount of movement.
