Abstract

1,046,501. On-and-off castors. J. S. SIEDER. June 18, 1963 [June 18, 1962], No. 23391/62. Heading A4U. [Also in Divisions A6 and E1] In a staging, step ladder, &c, running on spring loaded wheels and having feet which engage the floor when the load on the staging &c. compresses the springs, and holds the staging stationary, the wheels can be raised out of action. In one modification the castor wheel 12 is engaged with the floor by means of a spring 24 and is raised from the floor by a cam 21. In another modification the feet are moved down by cam-controlled springs or cams to lift the wheels off the floor, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) respectively.
