Imitation fires.-An incandescent-like imitation fire or luminous body for domestic fire-places consists of a quantity of transparent or translucent material, such as paper, linen or other fabric, or sheet gelatine, covered wholly or patchily with red or yellow fluorescent or other material illuminated by a lamp round which a screen, partly opaque and partly transparent, is rotated by the action nf the hot air rising from the lamp. Fig. 1 shows an electric lamp b surrounded by a screen k mounted, together with propeller-like vanes h, upon a frame f<1> rotating on a glass or like pivot e at the upper end of a support c. Preferably, the sheet material has a white or greyish ground. The lamp or the screen k may be wholly or partly painted red or with fluorescent paint, which may also be applied to a stationary screen surrounding the movable screen. Specification 1319/89 is referred to.
