965,061. Shades for electric lamps. K. F. MARLOW, and G. P. AKED, [trading as MARLOW & AKED]. June 24, 1963 [Feb. 2, 1963], No. 4374/63. Heading F4R. An electric table or bedside lamp includes a wire or other openwork frame (e.g. of perforated sheet metal) 3, 4, 5, 6 supporting the bust 1 of a figure having a translucent dress or other garment 13, a socket 8 for a lamp 9 being mounted on the frame 6 and a translucent tube 16 surrounding the lamp and arranged so as to rotate by the convection currents of air when the lamp is lit, the tube 16 being coloured or patterned to throw moving light or shadow on the dress 13. The tube 16 may be provided with inclined vanes 18 in the top surface and be mounted on a pivot 19 supported by a wire 20 from the ring 4. The tube 16 may be provided with coloured strips 21. Alternatively figures of animals &c. could be provided on the tube. The dress 13 constituting the shade for the lamp may be supported by an underskirt 15 of stiffer material.
