Awnings, special applications of.-An awning for use with hoisting-gear of the derrick-crane type, in which two ropes e, e<1> are used for lifting and sluing a load, is arranged below the pulleys on the derricks and is provided with openings having covers m, m<1>, which are secured to rings encircling the upper ends of the rope guide sleeves f, f<1>. The movement of the sleeves f, f<1> is limited by stays, bridles, &c. i, i' secured to the deck, to a spring, or to a weight depending over the side of the vessel.
